Artist and Industry

I also found this article in the library in the new Ceramic Review journal. In 'Artist and Industry' Chris Keenan talks about his first experience of working with mass production where he developed a range of tableware for Habitat. He feels it was a very positive experience and appreciated the opportunity. Although he was initially anxious that the Habitat range would devalue his handmade pieces this was not the case. He found that he actually gained new customers from the publicity. The only slight downside he mentions is being forced to choose designs very early in the process, whereas he was used to being able to make more changes throughout. Keenan concludes by writing that he loves both the aesthetic of his handmade work, and the uniformity of the industrially produced pieces.
