Thoughts on Critical Review

I will look mainly at ceramics to create more focus, crafts as a whole is too wide.

Ceramics is also particularly interesting in relation to digital technology - translation from virtual to physical not usually direct. (Eden as an example of how it could be, the future?)

Digital technologies - focus on computer modelling and rapid prototyping. Look at different types of rapid prototyping?

CAD/CAM vs. craft debate out of date?...

Not so much if ceramicists are using digital technologies, but rather how they are using them and their attitude towards it. Is it a just a tool, or a ‘massive intervention’? Is it integral to their work, has it changed their work?

Is digital technology allowing people to work across disciplines? They do not have to have experience in ceramics. How does the level of experience in traditional ceramics influence how they work with digital technologies and ceramics?

Look at clay as a material, how do different designer-makers relate to and value it? Look at clays history of imitating other materials.

How has using it changed my work? Form, surface (function?).
